Having a mentor for different areas of your life is one of the best ways to guarantee your success. I am 100% sure that the mentors in my life have improved my success more than any thing in my journey so far.
Learning from someone who you value and trust, that has many more years will help you gain the knowledge needed to succeed. And enable you to short cut the mistakes that your mentor has made along the same path.
Some of the things I think you should look for in a mentor is:
- Some one that holds you accountable to your words
- Challenges you when you are bullshitting
- Have passionate conversations with
- Some one that has lots of stories to share of their successes and failures
Mentoring is the most fluid type of coaching relationship that exists. It is also the least structured of the types of personal development help you can get. And when you find a mentor that you believe in, value their opinions and advice. Then you will truly start to make a leap forward in your success.
